WATERFALL NATURAL SITE

The Hammam Debagh waterfall is the icon of tourism in the Province of Guelma, its most important tourist attraction. It is the first tourist destination preferred by local and foreign tourists, with a growing number of tourists. It is an exceptional and unique natural waterfall and a marvel caused by hot water cascading from a high altitude thousands of years ago, leaving limestone deposits which, over time, have formed an artistic masterpiece. A rare, beautiful and magnificent natural work, a majestic limestone waterfall, characterised by its shape of a curtain of stone pleated and rolled like an old linen, rich in colour and shape, mixed with the colour of the snow on the wings, which added splendour and beauty. The waterfall is located 22 km from the centre of the Province of Guelma in the centre of the town of Hammam Debagh “formerly El-Maskhoutine”. It is a magnificent limestone waterfall; its height reaches 8 meters and its frontage 40 meters. The hot springs that flow on the surface of the waterfall and that rise strongly from the ground reach 500 litres/sec and a temperature of about 97 degrees Celsius. Its waters are the second hottest in the world, after the Geys in Iceland. The waterfall, as well as the surrounding tourist area, represented by the hot springs flowing on its upper surface, the hot fountain (Bagbaiga), the Cheddakha section and the Chaouch bridge, is an exceptional natural museum that expresses beauty and charm. The El-Arayes area is considered a rare natural masterpiece, adding the picturesque location to its beauty. It is a plateau of cones, locally called “El-Arayes”, which is a rising limestone in the form of cones of various sizes (more than 100 cones), which were formed over time after the water springs dried up and changed the places of their flow. (An ancient myth has been woven from the imagination about the reason for its formation, which is denied by scientific truth)

This site is the first tourist destination of the Province of Guelma, for local and foreign tourists, as the area has attracted a large number of tourists of different age groups, from different Province of the country and even from abroad, for picnics, walks, leisure, rest and entertainment.
