The inhabitants of Guelma made enormous sacrifices for their country. They showed exceptional courage in fighting the French occupier. Guelma is known by the demonstrations of May 08, 1945 and the great battles that took place on its territory during the war of national liberation. To commemorate all these sacrifices, many memorials have been erected for this purpose, including the large mural of the Martyrs of the Glorious Revolution next to the memorial of 8 May 1945. This wall contains the names of all the martyrs of the city of Guelma who fell on the field of honour.
