The Archaeological Garden “Calama” is centrally located in the city of Guelma, near the Roman theatre. At the back of the garden lies an archaeological museum created to collect artifacts scattered in a protected and guarded place, in order to preserve them and allow visitors to learn about the history and cultural heritage of the region. The relics housed in this garden originate from all over the province of Guelma, especially from the sites of Khemissa and Madour in Souk Ahras.
This Archaeological Garden is composed of five (5) alleys, including two (2) main ones: the alleys of Guelma and of M’daourouch. Each of these alleys has its own artifacts, depicting the remains of ancient civilizations that succeeded one another in the region, including monuments, crowns, architectural elements such as columns and their bases, coffins, statues of gods and pagan funerary monuments, stone tables, and Phoenician, Numidian and Latin engravings, on pieces of marble and white and pink limestone.
